Nalanda Nritya Kala Mahavidyalaya organised a Educational Expedition to Hampi and Badami, two historically significant heritage sites of Karnataka, for the BPA Degree V Semester students as part of their syllabus subject "Sculpture".
The tour was designed to provide practical exposure to ancient Indian art and architecture, complementing classroom learning with direct observation at heritage sites.The students were accompanied by the Principal Dr.(Smt.) Uma Rele , President of Nalanda Dance Research Centre Shri.Rahul Rele, Head of the Department and Associate Professor Dr.Meenakshi Iyer Gangopadhyay and Assistant Professors Smt.Radhika Nair ,Smt.Jonaki Raghavan and Smt. Sandhya Pisharody..
At Hampi, the historic capital of the Vijayanagara Empire, students explored the Virupaksha Temple, Vittala Temple, and the Royal Enclosures, gaining valuable insights into the craftsmanship of the period. The visit to Badami included a study of the rock-cut cave temples dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu, and Jain Tirthankaras, with the scenic Agastya Lake enriching the learning experience.
The tour proved to be a valuable academic initiative, arranged by the college to strengthen the students’ understanding of sculpture, history, and cultural heritage beyond the classroom.
