Nalanda’s Nrityotsav 2026 was held on Friday, 9th January 2026, at the prestigious Kanak Sabha of the Nalanda Dance Research Centre from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The evening commenced with the auspicious lighting of the lamp, marking a sacred beginning to the festival. This was followed by inspiring guidance and blessings from Dr. Smt. Uma Rele Ma’am, whose words set a profound and thoughtful tone for the performances that followed.
The first presentation of the evening was a Kuchipudi performance by Ms. Vempati Lakshmi Kameswari from Tamil Nadu, which beautifully reflected the grace, rhythm, and expressive richness of the form. This was followed by an evocative Odissi performance by Mr. Dipjoy Sarkar from West Bengal, showcasing lyrical movements and sculptural elegance rooted in the classical tradition.
The third presentation featured a Bharatanatyam performance by Ms. V. K. S. Madhumitha from Karnataka, marked by strong technique, precise footwork, and expressive abhinaya. The festival concluded with a captivating Kathak performance by Ms. Disha Desai from Maharashtra, whose dynamic spins, rhythmic clarity, and expressive storytelling brought the evening to a powerful and memorable close.
Nalanda’s Nrityotsav 2026 beautifully celebrated the diversity of Indian classical dance forms, bringing together artists from different regions of India on one ???, making the evening a truly enriching and inspiring cultural experience.
